Communication for the master design students end of year exhibition 2014. To tackle the extremely heterogeneous content, we created a hermetic, almost pharmaceutical graphic language. The flow of the content is defined by a directory of key words sourced from the students abstracts.

Ueber Kräfte

Artist Book for the iconic publishing house “Merve”. Despite the general intention of an artist book, the layout for “Kräfte” seeks to fit in the pattern of Merve publications by following the tight restrictions of the publisher. Only small cracks in the design refer to the topic of natural forces and science.

Herrliche Zeiten

Identity for an exhibition called “Glorious Times” in Zug, a small city in Switzerland. A number of artistic positions dealing with the special reputation of Zug were spread all over the city. The accompanying Materials for the exhibition were entirely sourced from local media, used to create a cloud of images and text fragments reflecting a common feeling of confidence and discomfort at the same time.

Identity for the annual “Swiss Design Awards” organized by the Federal Office of Culture during the Art Basel. Basic experiments in deconstructing letterforms are used to illustrate elementary processes in the development of a design in general.

Recalling the spirit of the situationists, Ambitus organizes «dérives» in different cities and locations. One took place along the Badenerstrasse in Zurich, another one in the industial neighbourhood of Winterthur.

Poster for the monthly programme of a cinema on movies about capitalism. In the design, the same screenshot from Aki Kaurismäkis “Hamlet goes Business” is altered with scenes from other movies to indicate possible stories around capitalism and it’s excesses.

Gym, Tan, Laundry

A series of 3 silkscreened A1-posters on the theme of «GTL». It stands for «Gym, Tan, Laundry», a process of staying fresh and mint coined by the eloquent Mike «The Situation» Sorrentino from MTV’s Jersey Shore: «You gotta GTL everyday to make sure you’re looking your best bro. If your shirt looks bad it makes the whole product look bad.» In addition, the laundry figure was printed in white on a white shirt.

Claire Vague

Claire Vague

Claire Vague is a fashion label and art platform. The name refers to Jean Luc Godard’s movie «La Chinoise», where the sentence «il faut confronter les idées vagues avec des images claires» appears written on a wall. The custom made font «Claire» is inspired by Godard’s handwritten Antique Olive versions.
The website is split up in two parts: one side presents the «wardrobe», the other introduces the artists featured in the exhibitions.

ATLAS is a Zurich based graphic design studio founded by Martin Andereggen, Claudio Gasser and Jonas Wandeler.
